It's the most wonderful time of the year

I could regale everyone with the usual "Oh my goodness I have a blog" post, but by now you all know how unfaithful I am to the blogger and you've accepted that about me. So I'll just jump into a regular post like it hasn't been months since I last shared with you.

I love Christmas. I don't know if I've ever told you all that before. My favorite thing about Christmas is going overboard on my friends. (Though this year I have been completely and utterly topped in that department by my best friends Brynn Paulin and Bronwyn Green who were WAY too generous to me this year. But I cannot tell you how much I appreciate their thoughtfulness.)

Usually under our tree there are stacks and stacks and stacks of gifts for everyone. I LOVE to buy for people. I like to think that I am an excellent gift picker. Often I will pick up little things all year and stash them away. That way when December rolls around and I pull out package after package of gifts it looks like I've spent a fortune but really it's been so spread out I barely noticed the money missing at all.

This year however, due to unforseen circumstances coupled with extreme laziness, I have actually just recently started my Christmas shopping. So I've been bargain hunting like a maniac so that I can still spoil the hell out of my friends and family, but keep it under control.

My current plan, and I'm hoping it will work. Is to find a great big box for everyone, fill it with all of the little things I've bought them, then wrap the giant container. That way it will seem to the casual observer that everyone got one big gift each, but then they will start pulling out a ton of smaller wrapped gifts. It's really the little things that give me joy.

What is your favorite part of Christmas? Is it the family dinners, the family fights, the presents, decorating the tree? What is that one thing that always sets your heart thumping and confirms for you that 'tis the season?

XoXoXo

I loved Christmas up until around 1999...that was when our finances took a dive. I used to Christmas shop all year round, but in 1999, that wasn't an option. Now I only buy Christmas for the kids, and everyone else gets homemade cookies.

I'm hoping things will be better after the spouse's disability hearing. Hopefully he'll get approved, plus my books are beginning to sell:)
